Uniform
Worn with Pride. Shared with Purpose.
"Our uniform reflects more than our identity. It reflects our values, our community and our commitment to excellence."
At Scoil Mhuire, our uniform is much more than what our students wear each day. It is a symbol of belonging, pride and community.
From the moment a student puts on her Scoil Mhuire uniform, she becomes part of a school with 75 years of tradition, where young women are encouraged to achieve academic excellence, develop confidence and contribute positively to the world around them.
Our uniform reflects the values that define our school: respect, responsibility, equality and pride in ourselves and our community. It creates a positive learning environment where students are recognised for who they are, not for what they wear, and where every young woman begins each day ready to learn, participate and succeed.
A Sense of Belonging
The first stage of The Scoil Mhuire Journey is Belong.
We believe students thrive when they feel connected to their school community. Wearing the Scoil Mhuire uniform strengthens this sense of belonging and reminds students that they are part of something much bigger than themselves.
It creates a shared identity that unites students across every year group and encourages respect, inclusion and school pride. Whether a student is beginning First Year or preparing to graduate in Sixth Year, the uniform reflects her place within the Scoil Mhuire community and the journey she is undertaking.
Creating the Right Environment for Learning
A consistent school uniform helps create a calm, focused and purposeful atmosphere where learning comes first.
It removes unnecessary distractions, promotes equality and encourages students to approach each day with confidence and professionalism.
At Scoil Mhuire, high expectations extend beyond the classroom. We encourage students to take pride in their appearance because taking pride in themselves often leads to taking pride in their learning, their work and their contribution to school life.

We encourage every student to wear her uniform with pride. To maintain consistency across the school community:
School skirts should be worn at knee length.
Plain black flat shoes form part of the school uniform.
Jewellery should be discreet.
Hoodies and non-uniform jackets are not worn during the school day.
Facial piercings are not permitted.
The PE uniform is worn only on designated PE days.
These expectations help ensure that every student contributes positively to the respectful and welcoming environment that characterises Scoil Mhuire.
-
As a school community, we are committed to sustainability and responsible stewardship.
Each year, our Parents' Council organises a Pre-Loved Uniform Sale, providing families with an opportunity to purchase quality uniform items while supporting sustainable practices and reducing waste.
When uniform items have reached the end of their useful life, families are asked to remove the school crest before recycling or disposing of garments responsibly, helping to protect both the identity of the school and the wider community.
-
To help every student begin the school year with confidence, we encourage families to organise uniforms well in advance of September.
Early preparation allows time for fittings, embroidery and any alterations that may be required before the beginning of term. We also recommend that every item of clothing is clearly labelled to help prevent lost property throughout the school year.

More Than a Uniform
"The uniform may be the first thing people see, but it is the character, kindness and confidence of our students that people remember."
At Scoil Mhuire, the uniform represents something much greater than appearance.
It reflects our shared commitment to excellence, respect and belonging. It reminds every student that she is part of a community that believes in her, supports her and encourages her to become the very best version of herself.
Every morning, when our students put on the Scoil Mhuire uniform, they are not simply getting ready for school. They are stepping into a community where they are known, challenged and inspired.
Because at Scoil Mhuire, Nurturing for Life begins with belonging and continues every day through learning, growth and opportunity.
