Basketball at Scoil Mhuire

A Place For Everyone

Basketball is an important part of life at Scoil Mhuire College, providing students with the opportunity to develop their skills, build confidence, form lasting friendships and enjoy the experience of representing their school.

Our basketball programme welcomes students of all abilities. Whether you are discovering the game for the first time or have years of playing experience, you will find a positive, inclusive and supportive environment where commitment, enthusiasm and teamwork are valued above all else. At Scoil Mhuire, we believe that every student who trains, works hard and embraces the spirit of the game deserves the opportunity to play and develop.

Basketball is about far more than winning matches. It reflects the values that are central to our school community—respect, resilience, perseverance, leadership and belonging. Through training and competition, our students learn to support one another, embrace challenges and grow both on and off the court.

Developing Players

Our basketball programme caters for students throughout their school journey, with teams competing at:

  • First Year

  • Second Year

Our focus is on developing strong fundamental skills while fostering confidence, communication, teamwork and sportsmanship. Every training session provides students with the opportunity to improve, challenge themselves and enjoy being part of a team.

Building Community

One of the greatest strengths of basketball at Scoil Mhuire is the strong sense of community surrounding the programme. We are proud that many former Scoil Mhuire students regularly return to assist with coaching and training, inspiring the next generation of players and strengthening the traditions of the school.

A Commitment to Every Player

At Scoil Mhuire, we believe every player has an important role to play. Students who attend training, demonstrate commitment and support their teammates are given meaningful opportunities to contribute on match days.

Our aim is to ensure that every player continues to develop, enjoys the experience of representing Scoil Mhuire and experiences the pride that comes from being part of a team.
