Working Together for Our Students

At Scoil Mhuire College, we value the strong partnership between home and school. Our  School Parents’ Council plays an important role in supporting school life and enriching the educational experience of every student.

Working closely with school leadership, staff, parents and the wider community, the Parents’ Council provides a valuable link between families and the school. It promotes positive communication, encourages parental involvement and supports initiatives that enhance learning, wellbeing and school life.

The Council also provides a forum where parents can share ideas, offer feedback and contribute constructively to the continued development of the school. Through their commitment and voluntary work, members help create the welcoming, inclusive and supportive community that is central to Scoil Mhuire College.

Fundraising and Community Support

The Parents’ Council plays a key role in organising fundraising activities that directly benefit the students of Scoil Mhuire College.

Working in partnership with the Principal, Deputy Principal, Board of Management and school staff, the Council helps identify areas where additional funding can enhance the educational experience of students.

Throughout the year, members support the planning, promotion and running of fundraising initiatives, including the Annual Parents’ Lunch, the Pre-Loved Uniform Sale and other community-centred events.

These events do much more than raise funds. They bring parents, students, staff and local businesses together, strengthen relationships and promote a strong sense of school spirit and community.

Pre-Loved Uniform Sale

The Pre-Loved Uniform Sale is one of the Parents’ Council’s most successful fundraising and sustainability initiatives.

Families are invited to donate school uniforms that are no longer required. These high-quality items are then made available to other families at an affordable cost at various times during the school year.

The initiative:

  • Helps reduce the cost of school uniforms for families

  • Encourages the reuse and recycling of clothing

  • Reduces waste

  • Promotes environmental responsibility

  • Raises funds for school resources and student initiatives

The success of the Uniform Sale reflects the generosity and community spirit of Scoil Mhuire families. It also demonstrates the Parents’ Council’s commitment to finding creative ways to support both the school and the wider environment.

Supporting Student Learning and Wellbeing

Funds raised by the Parents’ Council have the potential to support a wide range of projects and initiatives across the school, including:

  • Educational resources and classroom materials

  • Library books and reading initiatives

  • Digital technology

  • Sports and extracurricular equipment

  • Student wellbeing programmes

  • Special school events and activities

  • Improvements to the school environment

Through careful stewardship of these funds, the Parents’ Council and school management help ensure that students continue to benefit from enriching learning experiences and a positive school environment.

Get Involved

The Parents’ Council is always delighted to welcome new members and volunteers.

Becoming involved is a wonderful way to support the school, meet other parents and play an active role in the life of the Scoil Mhuire community.

Parents can contribute in many different ways. You may wish to become a class representative or committee member, volunteer at an event, support a fundraising initiative or simply share an idea. Every contribution is valued, regardless of the amount of time you can offer.

Parents interested in becoming involved are encouraged to contact the school office or speak with their child’s class representative.

New members, volunteers and fresh ideas are always warmly welcomed.
